Scoll down to knowmore about more about our work at Fishing Rod Society in Education for the marginalized
Our children, aged 5 to 16, predominantly from Myanmar are unable to attend public schools in Malaysia due to their undocumented status. Our learning center provides a safe haven where they can study, interact with peers, and receive a balanced meal while their parents work in low-wage, hourly jobs as illegal immigrants to support the family.
The crisis in Myanmar has forced countless families to flee unimaginable violence. Refugee children endure dangerous journeys, arriving in Malaysia without documentation, education, or healthcare. Vulnerable and uncertain about their future, they need hope and support.
At ZRCLC, we strive to provide them with the tools to reclaim their dignity and rebuild their futures, one child at a time.
We invite retired individuals with some extra time to assist in our nursery class as Preschool Minders. An extra pair of hands can make a big difference, helping our teachers with tasks like bringing children to the toilet during class, assisting with art and craft activities, or supporting them with penmanship—the list is endless! If you’re available in the mornings (10 am - 12 noon) or afternoons (1 pm - 3 pm), even for one day week, your support would be invaluable in nurturing our little ones.
We’re looking for volunteer storytellers to inspire and engage our children through the magic of reading. Reading to children not only sparks their imagination but also builds their vocabulary, improves listening skills, and nurtures a lifelong love for books. Whether it’s a beloved classic or a story from your own culture, your time and voice can make a lasting impact. Join us in creating moments of wonder and learning for our young readers!
We are seeking retired teachers to volunteer once a week to teach English, Math, or Science—not directly to our students, but to train our teachers. By sharing your expertise, you can help our young educators become more effective, creating a lasting impact on our school and ensuring a more sustainable approach to education. Your guidance can make a world of difference!

School supplies like exercise books, coloring pencils, and stationery are provided free of charge to students, as parents do not cover these costs. Essential items such as drawing paper, drawing boards, whiteboard markers, A4 paper, and printer cartridges are used up quickly and are costly to replace. Since these supplies are needed regularly, any support in this area would make a significant difference.
Cleaning equipment and detergents are vital for maintaining a hygienic environment for students and staff. Items like disinfectants, floor cleaners, and hand sanitizers are used frequently and need regular replacement. Any support in providing these supplies would greatly help maintain a clean and safe school environment.
Transporting our children to activities like football, swimming, or field trips is costly. A chartered bus for a round trip starts at RM500. We're building a transportation fund to help cover these expenses, and any cash donations are greatly appreciated
Online classes are now a key part of our syllabus, requiring functional tables and laptops. Contributions towards these items would be immensely helpful, as they are expensive to replace
