With COVID behind us and the number of new migrants continuing to rise, we had most number of activities at our learning centre than ever before. Here are just some of them.

In the Face of Change, Innovation Shines
This year, we experienced a dynamic shift with a remarkable 20% surge in enrollment. Instead of seeing this as a challenge, our dedicated team of educators embraced it as an opportunity for growth and improvement. Our passionate educators—Angela, Cecilia, Genavi, Joseph, Karen, and Theresa—collaborated at the drawing board to strategize and recalibrate. Together, they revisited our standard operating procedures, rules, and regulations to ensure the seamless operation of our learning center despite the significant increase in numbers. But they didn’t stop there. Going above and beyond, our educators conducted a comprehensive review of teaching subjects, adapting and expanding our syllabus to meet the growing needs of our students.
It wasn’t all work and no play, though! Understanding the importance of stepping into the students’ shoes, our educators embraced a hands-on approach. They painted, constructed, and role-played, immersing themselves in the world of our students. This unique experience has been invaluable, enabling us to tailor our teaching methods and create an even more enriching and engaging learning environment.
At ZRCLC, we believe adapting to change is not just a necessity but an opportunity for progress. We are excited about the positive impact these enhancements will have on the educational journeys of our students

This January 2024, the joy of Christmas lingered a little longer at ZRCLC as we welcomed Parish Priest, Fr. Clarence Debadass and the parishioners of St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Kuala Lumpur. The atmosphere was filled with festive cheer as
Fr. Clarence and our children gathered for a belated Christmas celebration.
Each of ZRCLC student received a heartwarming surprise gift, creating smiles that will be cherished for years to come.
Fr. Clarence, with his warm and uplifting spirit, led the children in singing timeless Christmas carols, creating a truly magical and unforgettable experience. As we bid farewell to the old year and welcomed the new, the joyous occasion served
as a beautiful reminder of the importance of community, love, and togetherness.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Fr. Clarence and the entire parishioners of St. Anthony's Church for spreading the light of Christmas and making this celebration memorable. Your generosity and kindness have left an indelible mark
on the hearts of our children and the entire ZRCLC family.
Thank you for making this Christmas season extraordinary!

2024 marked by a significant expansion of our school propelled by growing need due to rapidly enrollment growth. We successfully rented an additional floor, which, after extensive renovations, added five new classrooms to our learning centre. This new floor features reconfigurable wall panels, creating a dynamic and versatile learning area for our students. The upgrades didn’t stop there—we installed new flooring, brought in new furniture, refreshed our walls with a fresh coat of paint, and gave all our bathrooms a complete makeover. Additionally, we established a new teacher’s corner, providing our expanded teaching staff with a dedicated space for syllabus planning and team bonding.
Since these transformations, we’ve witnessed constructive change at ZRCLC. Teacher productivity has soared, student engagement has deepened, and the entire community—students, teachers, and parents—has been uplifted by the positive atmosphere.
A special thank you to CHARIS, who’s support made much of these wonderful renovations possible. Thank you also to all those in our community who lent their hands to remodel our building.

We owe a special debt of gratitude to CHARIS, whose generous financial support made much of this possible !

At the tail end of our renovations, long time volunteer Daniel Ngiam painted a mural in our new nursery play area. The mural adds colour to our school and helps bring our freshly redesigned space to life. We hope the mural, reading “NURSERY” at the top, gives the youngest students a sense of belonging at our school.
The children in the painting reflect our own community, who often have limited opportunities to play and be at leisure. The joy of the children in the mural encourages playfulness, curiosity, and exploration at ZRCLC. Depicted watching over them are guardian angels, symbolic of those who provide guidance, protection and shelter. The angels are a reminder to the students that they are safe to learn, laugh, and grow at our centre.
Located next to the tree is a green peafowl or Burmese peacock, the national bird of Myanmar— representing our founding community’s Burmese heritage. Just as a peafowl unfurls its feathers in a magnificent fashion, we believe our students can beautifully unravel their talents and gifts through learning.
The centerpiece of the mural is a padauk tree, the national tree of Myanmar. Our students came together to create the leaves with each leaving a thumbprints. The fun activity allowed our students to make a creative and permanent mark on our school. The mural will be a living fixture in our school, where new students can add their own fingerprints as they join the ZRCLC family.

See if you can catch our students involved in the creation of this new vibrant part of Zotung!
Special thanks to Daniel Ngiam, his father and all our students for making
this special mural possible!

This July 2024, we also had the honor of CHARIS Singapore

Amongst the CHARIS mission team that visited ZRCLC in July was Lasalle Brother Michael Valenzuela, FSC. Also known affectionately as Bro Mike, he reflected on his feelings after the trip and shared three pieces of advice.
